On 12 November 1918, shortly after the end of the First World War, over 250,000 workers across the country went on strike. After three days the strike was called off – under pressure from the strong military contingent in Switzerland’s major cities. On the occasion of the general strike’s 100th anniversary, the National Museum in Zurich is holding an exhibition that examines the causes, progression and aftermath of this serious crisis in the still-young federal state. The exhibit was developed in cooperation with the Swiss Social Archives.
