Show allAfter an eight-week hiatus, we are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to our exhibition spaces when the National Museum opens its doors again on 12 May. The re opening will provide the first opportunity to see our new exhibition Nuns: Strong Women in the Middle Ages. A detailed safety plan will be in place to protect visitors.
The management of the National Museum Zurich are delighted to announce that the museum will re-open to visitors from 12 May 2020. In order to re-open our doors, we have had to implement a detailed safety plan and restrict some of our activities. For example, the continued ban on public gatherings of more than five people means that we will not be able conduct tours or organise events, and the number of people allowed into our seven exhibitions will be limited depending on the size of each exhibition space. Reusable styluses will also be provided for use with digital information points. For full details of everything going on at the museum, go to www.landesmuseum.ch.
Nuns: Strong Women in the Middle Ages.
Our temporary exhibition on the lives of nuns in the Middle Ages was due to open just after we had to close the museum. It has been available online for the last few weeks, and has attracted a great deal of interest. From this coming Tuesday, visitors will finally be able to immerse themselves in the world of a medieval nunnery without any digital aids.
Shop and bistro also reopening
Along with the exhibition spaces, our bistro and Spitz restaurant will also be reopening, as will the museum shop. Appropriate safety measures will be in place in all three areas. The reading room in the library will remain closed until further notice, but we will be offering a special loans service.
