Guided Tour

Simply Zurich

| accessibility.time_to

Known as «Athens on the Limmat» in the 18th century, today Zurich is likened to a Little Berlin: a city of superlatives, but with a cosy side. Consistently ranking among the most livable cities in the world, Zurich is much more than a banking center and transportation hub. Explore what's behind this success story and delve into Zurich's multifaceted past with art historian and museum educator Mimi Pecnik Rommens.

The exhibition

Key-Visual der Ausstellung "Einfach Zürich"

The city and canton of Zurich have a long and chequered history. This will be shown in a permanent exhibition at the National Museum. From the pile-dwelling settlement to the muesli grater and the handbook for squatters, the exhibition explores Zurich’s rich past; cinematic installations and state-of-the-art technology bring an added dimension to the 60 or so historical objects on display, giving visitors a multimedia experience.
