We expressly reserve the right, at any time and without notice, in full or in part, to change or delete content or, from time to time, to refrain from publishing content.
Liability claims against us for any damage, whether of a material or immaterial nature, arising out of access to or use or non-use of the published information, misuse of the means of communication or due to technical faults are hereby excluded, to the extent permitted by law.
References and links to websites of third parties are beyond our control. Information and services provided by linked websites are entirely the responsibility of the third party in question. We accept no responsibility for such websites.
The information contained on our website will be made available to the public. Downloading or copying content, images, photos or other files does not transfer any rights with respect to the content.
Copyright and all other rights relating to content, images, photos or other files on our website are held exclusively by the SNM or the holders of such rights as expressly specified. Written consent must be obtained from the copyright holders prior to reproduction of any elements.
3. Data protection
Article 13 of the Federal Constitution of the Swiss Confederation and Swiss data protection law gives every person the right to privacy and protection from the misuse of their personal data. We comply with these provisions. Personal data are treated as strictly confidential and are neither sold to nor shared with third parties, subject to the exceptions set out under para. 5 and para. 6. With the exception of the hosting of the Ticketshop website (see para. 8), our website is hosted by the SNM itself. We do everything we can to keep your data safe from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or tampering.
When you access the website, the following information is stored in log files: IP address, date, time, browser query and general transferred information about the operating system or browser. These usage data form the basis for statistical, anonymous evaluations, to enable us to identify trends we can make use of to enhance the experience we offer.
When you contact us voluntarily, your contact details will be added to a separate database that is not associated with the anonymous log files. You can cancel your registration at any time.
Our website uses ‘cookies’, e.g. for Google Analytics (see below). Cookies are text files that are stored on your computer permanently or temporarily when you use it to visit this website. The purpose of the cookies is, in particular, to analyse the use of this website for statistical evaluation and for continuous improvement.
You can set your browser so that you are notified in advance each time cookies will be stored and can decide in each individual case whether you wish to accept them, or you can set it to reject all cookies. However, please note that if you do so, you may not be able to make use of the full functionality of this website.
5. Social media and plugins
In this context, we use content or service offerings of third-party providers in order to integrate their content and services, such as videos and articles. Any such integration always requires that the third-party providers of this content know your IP address, as they cannot send the content to your browser without it. The IP address is therefore required in order for you to view this content.
We endeavour to use only content whose respective providers will use your IP address only to deliver that content. Third-party providers may also use ‘pixel tags’ (invisible graphics, also called ‘web beacons’) for statistical or marketing purposes; see in particular ‘Facebook pixel’ below. The pixel tags can be used to evaluate information such as visitor traffic on the website. The pseudonymised information can also be stored in cookies on your device and may include, among other things, technical information about your browser and operating system, linking websites, the time of your visit and other details of your use of the online content, and may also be linked with such information from other sources.
Facebook social plugins
Our website uses social plugins (‘plugins’) of the social network facebook.com (‘Facebook’). The plugins may be interactive elements or content (e.g. videos, graphics, or text) and are identifiable by a Facebook logo or are indicated by the words ‘Facebook Social Plugin’. When you access a function that contains one of these plugins, a direct connection with the Facebook servers is established. User profiles can be created from the data processed. We have no control over the volume of data Facebook collects using these plugins. If you are a Facebook member and currently logged into Facebook, Facebook can assign the data to your Facebook account. If you are not a member of Facebook, there is still a possibility that Facebook will find out and store your IP address. According to Facebook, only anonymised IP addresses are stored in Europe.
The ‘Facebook pixel’ of the social network facebook.com (‘Facebook’) is used on our website. Using the Facebook pixel, Facebook is able to identify you, as a visitor to our website, as a target audience for the display of advertisements (‘Facebook ads’). Accordingly, we use the Facebook pixel to display Facebook ads placed with us only to those Facebook users who have shown an interest in our website or who have certain characteristics (e.g. an interest in specific topics or products which can be identified on the basis of the websites you visit), which we transmit to Facebook (known as ‘custom audiences’). With the aid of the Facebook pixel, we aim to ensure that the Facebook ads are in line with the potential interests of users and are not annoying to them. Using the Facebook pixel, we can gain a better understanding of the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes, by seeing whether users have been redirected to our website after clicking on a Facebook ad (known as ‘conversion’).
The data are processed by Facebook in line with Facebook’s data protection policy. More information on the display of Facebook ads can be found in Facebook’s data policy and in the Help section of Facebook.
With regard to the collection and use of your data by Facebook pixel for the display of Facebook ads, you have several opt-out possibilities: to set the types of ads that are displayed to you within Facebook, you can follow the instructions on preferences for usage-based advertising in the Facebook profile settings. In addition, you can set your browser so that you are notified in advance each time cookies will be stored and can decide in each individual case whether you wish to accept them, or you can set it to reject all cookies. However, please note that if you do so, you may not be able to make use of the full functionality of our website.
6. Analysis tools
Our website uses functions of the ‘Google Analytics’ web analysis service from Google Inc. (‘Google’). Google Analytics uses its own cookies. The information generated by these cookies is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google uses this information to evaluate the use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage for website operators. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google.
We have activated IP anonymisation on this website, i.e. the IP addresses which Google Analytics is required to transmit to the Google Analytics server for visitors to our website will be automatically truncated by the removal of the last few digits, within a very short time.
By using this website you consent to the processing by Google, in the manner and for the purposes set out above, of data collected about you.
You can sign up for our newsletter using the form on the website. To subscribe to the newsletter, you are required to provide the following information: title, first name, surname and email address. You may also provide additional information that is not strictly necessary but which enables us to provide a more personalised service.
Each newsletter we send allows you to change, edit or delete information you provided when registering.
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter, you can click on the ‘Unsubscribe’ link included in all our newsletters.
To send our newsletter, we use the services of mailXpert GmbH, based in Zurich. MailXpert is a service which can be used, among other things, to organise and analyse the sending of newsletters.
Using mailXpert, we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with mailXpert, a file (web beacon) contained in the email connects to the mailXpert servers. It can then be determined whether a newsletter has been opened and which links have been clicked on. In addition, technical information is collected (e.g. the time of your visit, IP address, browser type and operating system). However, this information is only collected in pseudonymised form and cannot be assigned to a specific newsletter recipient. It is used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better customise future newsletters to recipients’ interests.
If you do not want your activities to be analysed by mailXpert, you will need to unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a link for this in each newsletter. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by sending us an email (see para. 9).
On the website of our Ticketshop, you can buy tickets for museum entry and for our various events. When booking tickets, you have the option of either creating a customer account or completing your order by giving your name, email address and billing address. When you create a customer account, you may provide additional information that is not strictly necessary but which enables us to provide a more personalised service. You can have your account deleted at any time by sending us an email (see para. 9).
The website of our Ticketshop is hosted and maintained by Visitate GmbH, based in Berlin, Germany.
Visitate GmbH has given us an undertaking that it will safeguard the data of Ticketshop users in compliance with data protection regulations and will not share such data with third parties.
9. Right to information and deletion
You have a right of access, free of charge, to your stored data and to correction, blocking or deletion of these data, unless we have a legal obligation to retain such data. Please contact us by email concerning this matter, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
