Melody Gygax ist Cultural Swiss Agent der Fotografenagentur MAGNUM PHOTOS. Nach jahrelanger Erfahrung als Bildredaktorin und Bildchefin bei diversen Medien (zuletzt bei der Basler Zeitung) arbeitet sie heute als Photo Editor/Curator zusammen mit Brands, Werbeagenturen, Corporate Publishern, Fotogalerien, kulturellen Institutionen, Fotografinnen und Fotografen. Als Dozentin referiert sie mit Schwerpunkten auf den Bereichen Konzeption, Editing & Storytelling und Bildredaktion. Melody Gygax ist regelmässig Expertin bei Portfolio-Reviews und Jurymitglied bei Fotografie-Wettbewerben. Zuletzt amtete sie als Jurorin für den «Swiss Press Photo Award 2022».

The exhibition

Swiss Press Photo 23 showcases the best Swiss photo journalism from the last year. The photos give us a glimpse behind the headlines and provide a snapshot of 2022. The exhibition comprises some 130 photos of current events, such as the war in Ukraine and climate protests, everyday scenes from the hot summer of 2022, mesmerising portraits and gripping moments from the sporting year. Photography has a long tradition at the National Museum and proves time and again that despite the flood of digital images, photographs have lost none of their power.
