CD-Rom (compost disc read only memory)

Disco in plastica del diametro di 12 cm su cui sono memorizzate delle tracce musicali.
Ha conosciuto una diffusione su lunga scala a partire dal 1990 sostituendo K7 e dischi in vinile. Il Cd musicale si ascolta in casa grazie ad un apposito lettore ma anche fuori grazie ad un lettore portatile, il Discman.  
Se è stato un oggetto che mi ha accompagnato durante la mia infanzia e prima giovinezza, oggi, nel 2023 non è quasi più utilizzato per ascoltare musica. L’arrivo degli Mp3, della digitalizzazione e degli smartphone lo ha reso obsoleto.
